25 Things! The adventure begins! I’m now into Week #2, but will reflect on Weeks # 1 and 2 in this, my first post. I watched and listened to the 7 1/2 Habits tutorial. It made me think about what I hope – and intend – to learn from our 25 Things program. Certainly I want to become more familiar, more comfortable, and more confident with Web 2.0 technology. As you know, I’ve recently written a few emails referring to meetings and symposiums that I’ve been to that focus on the challenges that libraries face: how can we remain relevant in our ever-faster-changing world? One common theme is we must embrace technology and all that Web 2.0 has to offer. Hence our new Web 2.0-friendly WPL website, and hence our 25 Things self-discovery learning program. The truth is, in spite of my emails praising 2.0 technology, I find the whole thing pretty intimidating. But I’m determined to work at it – have a positive attitude – and learn! I’m entering this “adventure” with more than a little trepidation. I want to say thank-you to Elaine, Nakib and Anthony – with the help of others – for developing and offering this opportunity to us. And I want to say thanks to those who are participating, and will participate, in the program. (Not that we have a choice, eh?!) Nonetheless, I give those who find it tough – myself included – credit for taking it on. With perseverance, the right attitude, and a little help from our friends, we’ll face it, master it, and maybe even ultimately teach it to others! Here goes: Let the fun begin!
